How to prepare for treatment

It is a good idea to prepare for any bladder instillation procedure. If you have been prescribed or scheduled for an instillation of Uracyst you should take the following steps to help you prepare:

  • Visit the toilet a few minutes before. This helps to empty the bladder before instillation.
  • Stop drinking 6 hours before the treatment is due to be given, although you may take a small amount of fluid with medications.
  • If you take diuretics (water tablets) consult your doctor or nurse.
  • Eat normally before the treatment.
  • If you suspect you have a urine infection, contact the clinic for advice.
